How to Prevent Corrosion

1. Use non-corrosive metals, such as stainless steel or aluminium.
2. Make sure the metal surface stays clean and dry.
3. Use drying agents.
4. Use a coating or barrier product such as grease, oil, paint or carbon fibre coating.
5. Lay a layer of backfill, for example limestone, with underground piping.

New research examines #corrosion on atomic level

The cost of repairing corrosion worldwide is estimated at $2.5 trillion a year, which is more than 3% of the global GDP—so developing better ways to manage oxidation would be an economic boon.
